Kubernetes, originally founded by Google in 2014, is now the de facto container orchestration platform. Companies looking to deploy containers in a production scale environment benefit enormously from features such as scaling, self-healing, service discovery, and load balancing when leveraging Kubernetes. Kubernetes is additionally an open-source platform in which companies can contribute among a large ecosystem of partners and take advantage of running Kubernetes whether on-premise or in the cloud. To advocate the adoption of Kubernetes, Google Cloud engineers have created Google Kubernetes Engine, a managed service for deploying containers powered by Kubernetes. Google has been running containers in production for over 15 years, and customers can take advantage of a managed service that lets them run containers at production scale on Google infrastructure. During this event, we will review the basic foundations for running containers in a production environment using Kubernetes on Google Kubernetes Engine.
